The Last Namsara
by Kristen Ciccarelli
Re-read review.
I feel like I failed this book. I didn't really want to reread it but I couldn't find a synopsis online and I did not remember anything that happened. In fact even when I started reading the book, nothing triggered any memories, which is strange because I read this only two years ago and I really liked it?? But because I didn't really want to reread it, it made me annoyed with the book and the characters and I couldn't focus and it was just not a good time, so I feel like I can't really review this book honestly because I was being a brat the whole time.
...
Ciccarelli fits a typical 3 book arc into 1 and you know what, I'm not mad because the characters didn't waste much time on needless drama. Sure, I wish some things were a little more developed and explained, but as debut installment of a series, I think it does really well.
I really enjoyed the characters and how much all of them develop through the story, as they discover truths about themselves, and strive to become better people.
I especially enjoyed the dragons in this book. It's the reason I picked it up and I was not disappointed.
The world is vast and complex. It is built in bits and pieces and I enjoyed watching it unfold.
I do wish the relationship between the three peoples and their grievances were better explained. Especially the Dragon King's motivations. But I did read this in one day so maybe I glossed over it.
Overall, this is definitely a great new series and I'll be looking out for the next book!
