Counting the Cost
by Jill Duggar
This was really good, and not in a “Go Jill! spill the tea” kind of way. I completely related to some of the family dynamics: the overbearing, controlling father who needs everything his way (ahem), as well as the childhood anxiety, learning to question things you were taught, and thinking for yourself. I didn’t grow up religious, but Jill’s memoir really grasps the struggles, confusion, and fear of deviating from things you believed, disagreeing with parents or family members, and trying to figure out how to be the person you need to be.
