Girlmode is, at times, silly. Explicitly drawing on teenage rom-coms aimed at teenage girls, it does not shy away from the genre's frequent silliness and unrealistic situations. This book didn't blow me away, but god was it enjoyable. The writing is funny, the characters are enjoyable, and the plot, though fantastical at times, still feels very grounded. This is the sort of media that you find yourself wishing you had when you were younger.
