How to Be Fine: What We Learned from Living by the Rules of 50 Self-Help Books
by Kristen Meinzer, Jolenta Greenberg
I wanted to love this book. I've recommended the By the Book podcast to so many people, and I had such high hopes. The authors have read and lived by 50+ self-help books over a few seasons.
I liked that the book was broken into three segments - what advice didn't work, what worked, and what they wish more authors would recommend. However, I didn't love switching between Kristen and Jolenta's voices . The essays had no transitions between them, and they were generally too short to really drive the point home.
I dunno. I just expected more. More research, more comparisons, maybe more from the authors of the self-help books themselves. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who hasn't listened to the podcast. I wish I could say otherwise.
