This was slow, plodding, and at times painful. So why 3 stars? Because the setting and characters were just interesting enough for me to like them. I debated giving it 2 stars, and maybe that is more just, but I liked the action stuff and especially the bits at Eton so I can't say I disliked the book overall. I'll have to ponder it some more before I decide whether to keep reading the trilogy, but for now I'm mostly disappointed. I wanted this to be great.
