Touched by an Alien
by Gini Koch
I picked this up because of the great Daniel Dos Santos cover. Sadly, the cover is really the only good thing about this book.
I was absolutely ready to suspend my disbelief. This is a campy scifi influenced by Men in Black after all. But I couldn't get past the bad writing. The author is completely in love with her own one-liners. Once I got beyond the one-liners, the world-building was exhausting and boring. I really disliked the several large, tedious info dumps. The first third of the book (4+ hours) consisted of everyone rushing back and forth from city to city with little or no reason. Simply put, it was boring.
Narrator: Romy Nordlinger was the wrong choice. Generally she did an okay job, but her squeaky, childish voice is completely wrong for this book.
