Oh my god, I don’t know that anything has ever left me this emotionally devastated
The writing is unlike anything I’ve read before. The author tells you barely anything, no names, no specific locations, and no specific recollection of the event that occurred to get the world to a post apocalyptic state, and yet it is still one of the most captivating and compelling stories I’ve ever read
The dialogue was what brought me to tears though. This man having simple conversations with his son. About dreams, and fire, and good guys. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time
I can’t tell if I’m left feeling hopeless or hopeful after this book, maybe it’s both
