Butter
by Erin Jade Lange
This is another book about bullying. Marshall a.k.a Butter weighs 423 lbs. People make fun of him, he feels invisible, and the girl he loves hardly knows he exist. So he decides to set up a website about eating himself to death. But after the site goes up people start giving a lot of attention. So the question was, was he really going to go through with his plan?
I was really amazef by the cruelty of high school students and the power of social groups on individual behavior. I felt sad about Butter. I could not blame him fully for his situationn, but I also could not understand how he could give up on his life so easily.
I was happy with the end, though. And I really do hope that more and more people become aware of the damaging effects of bullying and move to lessen it.
