Maybe feels a bit repetitive by the end, and doesn’t necessarily have a particularly compelling conclusion, but it’s still a thoughtful March through a whole slew of pulp culture figures. The author says she’s going to stick to “cultural touchstones,” and she does, but I’d have really liked to see at least some discussion of indie and genre films from outside the mainstream.
