Night by Elie Wiesel

It pains me when I have to leave a one star review. However, I try to be objective and not let the subject matter itself dictate the stars but instead let joy and satisfaction of the writing style, the use of word structure, and how the story is conveyed lead me to my review. Perhaps during the culling of 700 words, everything important was also cut away?

I wholeheartedly believe that this book's success is due to the subject matter and not how well it was executed. There have been so many books written about the Holocaust that lead you to tears with just one sentence. This one goes through the motions, but doesn't have any substance whatsoever.

After I finished reading, I actually googled the book/author to see if I was just missing something that a majority of readers saw. Lo and behold, imagine my surprise when I saw all of the drama surrounding this author and this book.
