Fable by Adrienne Young

5.0

1. Keep your knife where you can reach it.
2. Never, ever owe anyone anything.
3. Nothing is ever free.
4. Always construct a lie from the truth.
5. Never, under any circumstances, reveal what or who matters to you.

It there was one word to describe this book, it would be vivid. In every passage I read, I could imagine myself there, the wind against my hair, the sun on my skin and the smell of saltwater in the air. The progression of the story felt natural, and all the actions of the characters and events they faced were fitting to their journey. Every plot twist or obstacle they faced felt like another puzzle piece slid perfectly in place, forming a beautiful picture of a girl striving to find her place in a dangerous and deadly world. I enjoyed watching Fable grow and find a family of her own, and particularly found her dynamic with both West and Saint very compelling, especially since the Narrows is not a safe place for love of any kind.

Fable may have been "born for a far better world", but who's to say that she can't build the world she deserves to live in? I'm excited to follow her as she finds her place there.
