An odd book... The main character Monica drove me nuts (she's young and insecure, but it was overdone). The historical parts that focus on the grandmother were really interesting. I learned a lot. And the last few chapters did a lot to pull things together and redeem Monica. Definitely genre bending as historical fiction meets fantasy.
