as soon as earl was introduced I decided actually I don't want to read this book. It's like greg from diary of a wimpy kid if he managed to get everyone at school to like him, but he was still an insecure loser. Desperately needs a rowley but we get earl, who I have no confidence will be a well rounded character considering the flat cardboard cutouts we've seen so far. also strange that in a book where everyone's been introduced by ethnicity so far earl's is omitted, replaced instead by stereotypes that are meant to imply he is Black. I instead chose to imagine he was a white boy with "nigga" tattooed on his neck, which provided more entertainment to me than the actual text of the book.
