My friend recommended this book to me and when I read the bavk cover I thought it would be really not up my alley bc I don’t love hockey but I acrually really really really enjoyed this one. LKKE it gave me a new perspective on residential schools and kind of really made me aware of what I didn’t know and how brutal it was. I definitely also felt like I learned a lot abt like a way of life I knew nothing abt and in a way that it was super interesting to me. The author did such a good job of incorporating like teaching abt the past and culture with storytelling and a actual Novel and o spent the entire book being so hooked and not being able to put it down. like I think this book was unlike anything I’ve ever read before and it hit so hard. also somehow I acruakky found hockey interesting which is saying a lot considering how bored I usually am with reading abt sports. I also thought the ending o this one was done super well and I liked how it was almost a reflection and healing but also a commentary on what couldn’t be changed and the unfairness of the mail chatavtzrs situation. Also the build up to his main reallzition in the book was so well done and I really enjoyed reading it.
