The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe
4.0

The dark Peter Pan retelling I’ve always wanted, and the fact that it's a Reverse Harem makes it so much better. I was glad this book was a fantasy, without taking any of the original peter pan elemets.

Peter Pan’s getting weak, his island is dying due to his shadow being stolen and hidden by a Darling ancestor, therefore every few decades when a Darling woman turns eighteen, a vicious Peter Pan shows up at her door and snatches her back to his Island , only to send her back without her sanity.

Winnie’s mother was the last victim, so she was forced to raise herself because her mother had lost her mind from her time on the Island. She’s strong, and been through a lot so she’s different from the women before her and the Lost Boys notice that. Let’s say she gets shared a lot in this book even though they’re not allowed to be intimate with her and this was something o thoroughly enjoyed.

There was enough plot and steam in this less than 200 page book to keep me flipping the pages without a break, there’s depth to the characters, and more secrets and back stories that I‘m excited to know about. there’s obviously more action coming and i can’t wait to see where we go from here.

Highly recommended for a quick read, i finished it in one sitting and glad the second book is coming out in just a few days - plus these covers are gorgeous and i might be needing them on my shelf.
