It's a fine read if not particularly dense. Our main character was a bit of a Mary Sue, and it would have been more interesting to give her more of a story than just have her bounce around due to the whims and desires of other characters. The cypher really only works if they're outside the story looking in (think Nick Carraway), it's a bit different when the character is half-in/half-out of the story.
