Midnight Mass by F. Paul Wilson

Did not finish book. Stopped at 56%.
About 50% DNF. I dislike DNFing books but I can’t see myself enjoying this.

There is promise to what is going on but a lot of things made this book unpleasant. Primarily the completely unneeded rape of a character. I do not want to read the author mishandling it more, as it already appears he is doing.

The one part I thought that was really interesting about this book is that it poses an interesting question about the fact that crosses hurt vampires. And that has caused a divide in religious communities and makes people consider what Christianity has that other religions don’t. To my disappointment, instead of perhaps linking the crosses to something else it seem like Christianity is just the ‘right’ religion. Like main guy performs magic basically.

There’s promise in this book but not enough for me to continue reading. Many reviews have also cited some pretty bad Islamophobia, so that’s fun.
