The Husband Hoax by Saxon James

5.0

Marriage of convenience is a classic trope that is difficult to make work in contemporary romance but Saxon does a truly brilliant job in this book. I was hooked from page one and the story didn't disappoint.
I loved the way Christian and Émile meet and how they feel attracted to each other from the beginning. They are exactly what the other needs, and their relationship is sweet but hot at the same time. They make a deal to help one another with their family issues, so their story is sort of slow burn although there are many steamy moments. I loved how Émile was so capable, always knowing what to do in all types of situations, and I also loved Christian's clumsiness and his big heart.
This book is a beautiful love story between two guys that have gone through similar family situations. They understand each other perfectly because Christian and Émile know what it feels like to be rejected by those who should love them unconditionally. The story talks about love and friendship (oh, how I loved the scenes with Christian's friends!), it's sweet and emotional, easy to read because the writing is great and the author knows how to put feelings into words. I found myself laughing quite a few times and feeling so good inside.
I'm looking forward to reading about Christian's friends' stories. I see a lot of wonderful tropes in them and I can't wait.
