Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark by Cassandra Peterson

5.0

There had always been an air of mystery about Cassandra Peterson, but after 40 years we've all been invited to finally know her, and not just the legendary character, Elvira.

This book reads like two friends sitting down for a long chat. It's full of humour, shock, and ultimately the matter-of-fact truth that we often expect from someone with the experience that Cassandra Peterson has earned.

I think the thing that makes it so wonderful is that she waited this long to share her story. She was able to share every moment with a calm acceptance instead of an overly emotional dramatisation of her life.

I'm grateful to not only know the character of Elvira, but to now know Cassandra Peterson, too.
