Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
3.0

Look, maybe I’m just too dumb to understand it, or maybe this is a product of its time, but this book was just fine.

You would think a book about a hot Russian aristocrat babe having an affair with her husband would be rife with steamy entries and perfect beating material. You’d be wrong. Tolstoy is a master at blue balling his readers. He cranks up the heat with all this sexual tension, and just when you know it’s time to pull down your pants, he skips ahead to the next scene, leaving you with one hand holding the book and the other hand in your pants wondering what the hell happened.

I’ll admit that sometimes you can’t put the book down. Some chapters were fascinating. But you’re telling me this guy couldn’t slim down the entire chapter about mowing grass with a scythe just a little bit? Unreal.

Overall it wasn’t bad. There was a particularly hot scene when a girl threw herself in front of a train.
