Finding Pride by Jill Sanders
3.0

Megan runs to Pride to her brothers funeral, and plans on hiding out there until she can get her life in order. On the surface this seems like a great book - the characters are likable, they develop nicely and the relationships grow well. However, we are constantly hearing how Megan and Matt care so deeply for one another, yet they have not seen each other in years. That in itself is plausible living so far apart, but they know absolutely nothing about each other! If they were so close Megan would have at least heard about his neighbor friends, their businesses and his B&B plans. Even if she was keeping her life with her husband a secret, she would know about his.
Secondly, Megan is devastated by past abusive relationships yet rushes headlong into sleeping with a practical stranger. While I have never experienced an abusive relationship I can only imagine that would make one very hesitant about becoming involved with anyone - even female friends as she supposedly tried to hide things from others for years!
The solutions to Megan's issue seem to cone to easily in my opinion. I don't believe that Todd treated her so tenderly she saw another aspect of relationships. He was pushy, angry and aggressive with enough tenderness to make her second guess herself. Is that not exactly what Megan started off with?
I feel that life in Pride, while inviting and friendly, was painted with rose colored glasses that left me wondering what the real truth was.
