Just re read this in one sitting to take my mind off the horrors. It helped immensely. I take my copy of this from the 40s to college with me every year though it had been probably at least a decade since I’d actually read it. It’s like a ESA just having it near me brings me joy. L Frank Baum said in his foreword that he wrote it to combat the darkness and trauma of classic fairytales and to have a book for kids of just pure joy and it is evident that he accomplishes that goal. Also this is my best smelling book and that feels necessary to say
