I’ve discovered a new pet peeve: footnotes. Would have been so much less annoying if they would have put them at the bottom of the page, but I had to scroll to the end of each chapter (e-book edition, hopefully those reading the print edition are spared this insanity) and I stopped bothering after the first few chapters. And what’s the point in a first person narrative?! We’re subjected to Davi‘s inner monologue either way. It really annoyed me.
As for the plot: Meh. It’s funny (sometimes), it’s a bit dark but for someone striving to become The Dark Lord she discovers her conscience pretty early on. Generally not a lot of consistency concerning her backstory and character (no memories but constant pop culture references, fought hundreds of battles, no qualms killing the wizard (?) over and over again but gets squeamish after the first ambush). And I’d like to think any person who has lived 200+ lifetimes would be able to have a conversation the morning after. ffs.
