After suffering a bad injury, Scarlett isn’t nearly as on top of her diving game as she once was. That’s all fine and dandy, because she still has control over her diving career, studying for med school, and every other second of her day. Lukas Blomqvist, the swim captain, occasionally crosses her path at the pool and that’s about it. Until he’s much more than that.
I love an Ali Hazelwood romance novel, but be forewarned that this isn’t your typical kick-your-feet, giggly romance. As Scarlett and Lukas enter into a power dynamic situationship, their lust turns into bit more than just sex. Scarlett’s need to control everything felt relatable and the emotional and physical tension between these two lives up to exactly what Hazelwood is so well known for. The romance is there, it just came in the sports flavor rather than the STEM-based stories I’m used to from her. The friend drama felt a liiiiiitle overdone for my taste, but overall this was a good, spicy read!
