jessichu 's review for:
She and Her Cat
by Makoto Shinkai, Naruki Nagakawa
I'm really unsure what to rate this.
This was a charming short book with interconnected stories about women and their cats. I really enjoyed reading it, especially towards the end, but it's just... weird at points?
It irked me that the women's happiness towards the end is associated with the introduction male characters. Maybe I wouldn't have paid much attention if it didn't seem be a trend with the Japanese fiction books I've been reading lately. Bechdel test alarm bells keep ringing. Where am I going wrong?! I think the answer is probably male authors.
