This is the 5th installment in the Sinners of Saint series (counting the prequel) and I fall more and more in love with this series with every new addition. First, Vicious was my everything. Then, Trent's book came along and, lordy, I didn't think it could get any better. But then there was Bane. We first meet Bane in Scandalous. He's your quintesential surfer/vagabond/beach bum, but we find out in this book that Bane is all those things and more...he's got a heart underneath all that angst and bad assness. Jesse is the tortured girl who suffered through a horrible ordeal and has a hard time being anything more than what she thinks society believes her to be. The circumstances of them meeting are not great and led me to my first WTF moment, but Jesse and Bane's true colors start to show and Bane proves that he can be the leading man or the supporting actor...whatever Jesse needs him to be. The usual suspects from the Sinners of Saint crew show up here and there and they are perfect additions to an already perfect story. Every LJ Shen fan needs to read this book. Or don't - because I'll gladly keep Bane all to myself!
