Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris
3.0

So. The last book in the Harper Connelly series. I've said before that I really like the concept behind this series - but the romance between Harper and her step brother is a bit creepy. Yes I know they're not related. Yes it was flagged up very early on in the series that this might be the way the relationship turned, but it still is a bit weird. And the focus on that relationship takes away from the actual murder plots - which are the bit that I like.

And this book - being the last in the series - unsurprisingly ties up some of those loose ends that have been hovering over Harper - her fractured family, her issues over her childhood and her missing sibling Cameron.

And I can't really say too much more without revealing the twists. But I will say there are some nutty nutty twists and turns in this book. It's not entirely satisfying, but I can't imagine a way that this series could have been resolved in a neat way that worked on every level. It is a little fantastical though.

I'm glad I read this series in order - because I'm not sure I'd've stuck with it if I'd come to this first (and this was the first in the series that I had a copy of - it's been sitting on the shelf whilst I went back and picked up the others so that I could read them in the order the author intended.
