The Burning by Laura Bates

3.5⭐

The main plot point in this book is something so relevant and not talked about enough in the way Laura Bates told this story about Anna. It's about women being objectified and judged for things that are out of their control. It's about men getting away with treating women like objects with no feelings just to make themselves feel better. This is a heavy topic and is unfortunately becoming more common across many age groups, not just high school as it was portrayed here. I loved the way this story was related back to the witch trials. How women would be accused and found guilty of witchcraft over things that had nothing to do with magic, but just made a few individuals uncomfortable. This was definitely a deeper read than I was expecting. But I think this is a story that needs to be told more.
