Story Of My Life

Okay listen. I was enticed by this book bc it said “Gilmore girls meets schitts creek” - and if by that you mean there’s a small town that does weird small town things and also a big city girl who goes to said small town, then sure. But outside of that there wasn’t much connection.
I am not against the grumpy-sunshine trope (Gilmore girls is my favorite show, after all) but frankly, Cam is just an emotionally immature dick. His “grumpy” was far closer to manipulative and straight up awful than it was to charmingly gruff.
Hazel also says some line along the lines of “I’m far less forgiving than my heroines” …which, spoiler alert, she’s not.
(All that trash talk to say I didn’t hate it, I just didn’t love it. I want to read the next one when it comes out bc I’m interested in Zoey’s story.)
