This was a good concept, and a couple of moments I felt genuine tension and empathy for these characters. As a whole, though, I felt like it failed; instead of coming together into a compelling emotional drama, it fell into more of a dull sludge. I'd be prepared to try this author again, but I can't be enthusiastic about this work.
