Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo
3.0
I would again like to ask….what is this book……about.
It could be a me thing, in that I don’t care for dark academia in this way. But I DO like urban fantasy and boy this does not feel like that. I agree with other reviewers that note there isn’t any emotional processing time. We get Darlington out of hell and it’s just like “nice.” And that’s it?
Also. Also also also. Did we have to go to hell up to….I think I lost track but like FOUR times??? It started to lose the novelty on round two.
In ninth house I thought the beginning was SO slow but the second half was good. For this book the beginning is pretty pacy! The second half was where I was like “why can’t this book be over already.” So evening it out again to 3 stars.
There is the much screencapped bits that are wild but nothing about the rest of this book measured up to that sadly.
I don’t recommend this series unless you’re super curious. I have read books about demons that are way more fun and interesting. Taming Demons for Beginners by Annette Marie for instance. Go read that.
