While not the best by Stephen King, 'Desperation' was the perfect summer mystery that's unusually fast-paced, something King is not really known for.  The first part of the book was disorientating and terrifying as different people from around the country arrived at the town called Desperation for different reasons. And with a town name like that, you know shit was about to go down. And it did. Quite spectacularly, might I add.

I have to admit, the story took a turn that I really didn't expect. I guess that's Stephen King for ya. I got an audiobook version of this, and it was narrated by King himself and I quite enjoy his narrations. King also likes to put young children in the middle of horrific events and give them important roles and 'Desperation' was no exception, maybe even more than usual.
