I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first novel but I still really like the alternate reality Nix has created here. I enjoyed Susan’s ark, though the off-screen part of the conclusion left some to be desired. Susan’s motivations, reluctance and feelings about the world she’d found herself in felt realistic, compared to characters in similar stories who might jump head first into exploring their new reality.
