The Lioness by Chris Bohjalian
5.0

Wow this was a doozy.
I heard it described as Evelyn Hugo meets Jurassic Park and that was actually pretty accurate! A glamorous entourage of actors and Hollywood types go on a safari together in the Serenghetti and are kidnapped by Russian mercenaries. It turns into a bloody, breathless survival story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I loved this! Interspersed with the action, you get flashbacks into the characters’ lives (LOST style), a technique that keeps it interesting and adds a lot of depth.
This was pretty damn great if you don’t mind some violence—both by wild animals and humans with weapons.
I will need to read more books by @chrisbohjalian ! This was my first, and I am a huge fan of The Flight Attendant show based on his book. Which of his novels should I read next??
