The Two of Us by Taylor A. Torres

5.0

i have so much to say about how amazingly wholesome and heartbreaking this book is. i’m glad i didn’t read the synopsis. i was not expecting so much emotion to overtake me. it’s almost 11 pm, i have a splitting headache (not from crying, although that definitely didn’t help) and i have to be up at 7 am—i don’t care at all. this book unlocked something in me. i share so much with mara ESPECIALLY when it comes to her father. it was so healing for me to witness their relationship and the words he’d say to her. i pretended they were my dads. i don’t remember much, but i would like to think of my father exactly like maras.

her and cat’s friendship, her and tally’s friendship? they were everything. i’ve always longed for friends like them. i lived a bit vicariously i’ll say. anyway, the slow burn, but just enough angst and tension between her and ambrose—immaculate. i only stopped reading when i had to go to that thing called a job + to force myself to sleep. i’m glad alima and mara reconciled, i’m glad she had laura, matty, and even mitsu. oh and the reasoning for it being called the two of us? stop it rn
