This book was educational and well researched. I went into it knowing nothing about tea farming and was fascinated. I drank tea and never thought about where it came from. I will now. I also didn't know anything about the Akha people or ethnic minorities in rural China in general, so I felt like it opened my eyes a bit. I enjoyed this novel a lot. It had some minor pacing issues, but the characters were vibrant.
