I know the point of this book is to have an unlikable character but I couldn’t STAND juniper. Kuang is a beautiful writer. This book just isn’t for me. Juniper pissed me off the whole book. AND she kept succeeding (for some reason?!?!?). I’ve heard that Kuang never writes happy endings but where it left off was infuriating. I had a hard time getting through it.
Graphic: Death, Racism, Cultural appropriation, Toxic friendship
Moderate: Bullying, Panic attacks/disorders, Violence
Minor: Suicidal thoughts
