A Dog's Journey Movie Tie-In by W. Bruce Cameron

4.0

I would love to give this book 5 stars- i really mean it- but I just can’t. As someone who read A Dog’s Way Home before this book, I was kind of disappointed. I found this one less interesting and much harder to read than his other books. I didn’t feel as interested or invested with the characters.
One of the only characters I really liked was Trevor, but then he died from cancer and left me feeling as if there was nobody good anymore. I truly wished there had been more Hannah in the book and I wish that Gloria had been portrayed much different. Clarity (CJ) wasn’t a very good character at first but eventually warmed up to me.
The worst part of this story would have to be when Toby (dog 3 in this book) see’s CJ when Gloria is dying and we find out that CJ became a psychiatrist. I view this as very unrealistic as she had never once mentioned/ showed any interest in it before and there was no explanation to it.
Overall, I recommend this book if you love dogs because he is usually a very good writer, but I personally did not fall in love with this book.
Side note: I typically read pretty fast but found myself unable to find time to read this as the story was quite boring at times.
