Heads You Win
by Jeffrey Archer
Quite a few people might enjoy this even more than me. The focus was a bit too much on the political side of things for my personal taste. So if one is more interested in the different parties, elections and such it might easily be a favourite for them.
The premise is quite interesting - two young men and their mothers flee from the KGB. One pair flees to the UK and one to the US. They have different names, but aside from that are almost the same, down to the mothers being excellent cooks. The book then explores how different the life of an immigrant with similar backgrounds could go, depending on where they went. Obviously luck and happenstance also play a part, but one again the author gave them comparable circumstances.
I liked the characters and was interested in how they made their way through life. I found the business side of things much more interesting than the politics side though, so that took away from it for me.
This book had quite a bit less sex than the Kain and Abel book I read by the same author, and I liked it more for that! While there is some love and romance in this one too it, but it is about how that affects their lives, and not what bodypart goes where. ;)
All in all an interesting and engaging read, and I'll be reading from Archer!
