Thieves' Gambit
by Kayvion Lewis
This was okay but not one of my faves. I liked the main character Ross, and the premise that all these thieves are competing in this game.
The first challenge where they had to steal something from a museum was my favourite, I was really hooked, it had drama, tension, stakes. The second challenge where they had to get the sarcophagus from an auction lost me a bit. It just felt like it took so long. And then by the time it was the last challenge where they had to kidnap a loved one of another challenger I wasn’t that invested anymore.
I found myself getting quite attached to some of the other 9 challengers and then when they got eliminated I was a bit bitter because i wanted to see more of them (Kyung-soon and Mylo for example). Ross’ mum is a nasty piece of work lmao. Imagine staying your own kidnapping just to make sure your daughter doesn’t ditch your controlling behaviour.
I’m 50/50 with the romance between Ross and Devroe, I had moments where I loved it and was rooting for them but then there were other times where I just didn’t care that much.
Overall, I did like this even though it took me a while to finish it. The twists and turns are very clever so got to give credit where credit is due
