I loved this, even more than I thought I would. The spice was great, which was to be expected. However, something that I could not predict was how emotional this book would get. Reading what Sean was going through, especially his POV at the end, broke my heart and had me near to tears. This was partly because of how much I loved Sean. He was not perfect, and had flaws, but he was able to reflect on what he was doing and the way he developed as a character and grew into himself was amazing. As someone who is not religious, it was interesting to see his relationship with God and religion compared to Zenny who was ready to be a nun and seemed certain through most of the book. My one issue with this book is the fact we didn't get Zenny's POV. This led to her decision at the end feeling a bit like it came out of nowhere. It is also surprising given that their arrangement was created for her to question her resolve to become a nun but we never saw any of it, which was definitely a missed opportunity. Overall, this was brilliant and I am really excited to pick up the last book in the series and then maybe more from this author once I am done with that.
Graphic: Cancer, Sexual content, Medical content, Death of parent
Moderate: Grief
Minor: Rape, Suicide, Pregnancy
Cancer/ terminal cancer is an underlining topic and It does result in a death of a parent that is on page. Discussion on the palliative care and all sorts. There is a lot of sexual content. Pregnancy in epilogue. Rape and suicide is referenced due to one characters sibling's story. Grief is connected throughout, but often subtly. Religion plays a big role in this book and discussions are had.
