Killing Gravity
by Corey J. White
Summary: Miriam “Mars” Xi goes on a hunt to remember her past and basically everyone dies along the way.
This reads like a power fantasy given (space) wings. Maybe if I was in a different place while reading it, I would have liked it more. Mars rips apart most people who stand in her way to, first, finding her friend Sera, and then rescuing some “friends” who were captured as leverage against her. I dunno, none of it seemed “hard” for her, though occasionally she expresses slight regret about killing people, mostly she explodes them anyway and then wipes the blood off her shoes.
It was incredibly paced though, very addictive once you got going, so I’m not sad about finishing it. Nice immersion. Interesting world. (Though I found it strange that people knew she was a spacewitch as soon as she started exploding people when there were so few of them that existed)
