Winter Is Coming: The Medieval World of Game of Thrones by Carolyne Larrington

4.0

Have you ever wondered where did George R.R. Martin find inspiration to write the A Song of Ice and Fire series?

This book explains every possible connection between the plot, the characters and the settings of the saga and real history, with a sprinkle of folklore and mythology on the top of it. Some of the insights where quite easy to understand - almost dull - like the comparison between Dotrakhi and Mongols, but the majority was clever and, in my opinion, really clever.

My only disappoinment was the mixing of books and tv show (since they are not always following the same plot) but in the end it has been an interesting reading!
