Book 2 for Ms Peregrine does take a small, small step back... But it is still highly enjoyable.
These kids have some wild powers, and these baddies really are a group of well written evil dudes. 
I love the loop idea, you get a lot of different locations, backgrounds and such and makes it all the more fun to read.
