I cannot remember the last time I was so unsatisfied with a book. I can be easily pleased in my romances. I truly enjoy from the good heart gripping stories to the light, silly love stories that are just to relax. THIS was just PLAIN FRUSTRATING. Frustrating mostly because the writing was actually good, I mean you really feel the Napa ambiance and the richness of the description but the storyline, complete ridiculousness. I have heard the term cheese before. I love cheese, I really do, you can ask any of my friends but THIS, THIS was plain and rotten cheese. I mean you figure out almost everything before 20% of the book.
First issue is the fact that the story is insta-love. I am telling you, less than a whole week and these two were heavily in love with each other. Don't get me wrong, Jamie is adorably charming, sweet and smart. The man works in a vineyard so we know what's under those dirty clothes. That's all great but yet, less than a week... come on. Kate was ok for 48% of the book. After that I wanted to MURDER HER! Seriously, I have never felt this violent towards a heroine ever, but she deserved a good punch in the gut. She jumps to the most ridiculous conclusions, doesn't even give him the chance to explain and just decides to do whatever regardless of anyone else's feelings. Her 20 year old boy neighbor had more common sense then she did. She irritated to the point that I preferred to STUDY than to listen to her crazy, ridiculous thoughts. You barely get to have any interaction with secondary characters except maybe her neighbor so you were mostly stuck with her. She just went from being crazy, to crazier to dead on insane. After they reconcile things were not as unbearable because Jamie was in the picture but no I was just so annoyed. It had so much potential to be an interesting story but it was just a lot of ridiculous situations, one after the other.
Another thing, I'm all for helping those who need it, but going to serve food at a shelter on the first date, no honey no, let's get to know each other better before we serve in the community as a couple please. At least the worst is over. I just wanted to warn the next reader of what they were getting into. Insta- love, crazy and preposterous heroine with serious emotional issues and lack of climax.
