This book hit me hard in so many ways that it has genuinely helped me. Loved it! 😍❤️

“I was so raw from repeated exposure to cruelty that now even the most minor abrasions left a mark.”
.
This book revolves around our main character Shirin, a persian girl and how her life changes after the events of 9/11. And how her life changes completely when Ocean enters and break-dancing comes back.
.
The first thing I loved about this book was the amount of emotions it delivered. The topic of 9/11 is not very easy to discuss, and bullying and body shaming is a very difficult topic to deal with also. But I loved how it was approached and how it showed us that not everything is defined by what you are, but rather how you are.
.
The second thing was the relation between Shirin and her brother & his friends. I felt really good reading about that kind of support system when you are going through something really emotionally disturbing. And not to mention the relationship between her and Ocean!. It was definitely not love at first sight but rather quite slow ans built up. And the way he struggles to talk right to Shirin but end up saying something opposite was really fun to read about! Plus, Ocean is the best boyfriend you can ever ask for! Everyone should have an Ocean in their life. That's how good his character is. I love him for how he stoop up for her, and was ready to go through anything when it came to her.
.
I have nothing to say. This book actually helped me overcome some of my childhood trauma and hit me hard in the feels. I will forever be grateful for for doing this. And I experienced so many emotions just by the writing style.
.
I recommend this book to everyone! There are no specifics, just read this book and understand how lot of people get judged by their appearance and and their birth on a daily basis.
