WOW, OKAY. how do I even start? This is more of a rant than an actual review but here we go?
In all honesty, this wasn’t the worst read of my life. If you want to read it, I won’t stop you. The concept was intriguing, but was executed poorly. After the first few chapters it felt super repetitive. I don’t leave a series unfinished, so I will be reading the next 2 books, but what do you even do from now on?
Why do I hate this book? It’s slow-paced, the MC is horribly unlikeable (seriously Todd from the first page you gave me the ick), it had cheap grasps at getting the reader to feel something, finally topped off with simple uninteresting “plot twists” every other chapter (mainly a weird amount of revival of all the nasty characters)
Every single one of those deaths were so cheap AND SO SO POINTLESS! I originally was going to give this a 3.5 but those later chapters? Made me ball my eyes out and that rating slowly went lower and lower the more I read.
Anyway, I hope Todd gets attacked by a crocodile next.
