This memoir is nothing short of extraordinary! As a huge fan of her career and someone who owns nearly her entire discography on vinyl, her career was nothing new to me. This book offered a deeper, more intimate understanding of her life, artist, and the moments that shaped her into the woman and icon that I adore. My Name is Barbra felt less like reading a book and more like sitting down for a heartfelt conversation with a dear friend (and no, I won't call Barbra old because she is and always will be timeless). 

From her childhood in Brooklyn to her meteoric rise as a singer, actress, and director, Barbra's journey is as inspiring as it is fascinating. She masterfully weaves personal anecdotes with profound reflection, creating an equally vulnerable and empowering narrative. Her wit and candor (oh, the moments she goes off-script in the audiobook are wonderful) shine through every page. 

One quote resonated deeply: "At the moment of commitment, the Universe conspires to assist you." These words encapsulate what I believe to be some life philosophy for Barbra and an unwavering determination that has propelled her to achieve greatness in everything she touches. Also, her tenacity to do and fully involve herself in her projects is a trait I inspire to have/develop. 

Ending my 2024 reading journey with My Name is Barbra felt right. This book will stay with me for years, not just as a fan but as someone who admires the power of storytelling and the courage it takes to share one's truth. I am also sure I will revisit this book several times.
