The Ex Who Wouldn't Die by Sally Berneathy
4.0

After surviving a terrible motorcycle accident thanks to the help of her husband, Amanda finds herself accused of his murder which occurred hours earlier. Stuck between life and death and his estranged wife, Charley helps her solve his murder and clear her name in the hopes that doing so will finally let him move on.

The story was an enjoyable read. My only real complaint was “the twist” it was pretty obvious what it was going to be given how different she was from certain members of her family. Also, Charley’s family accepted her in a heartbeat which was a bit odd but perhaps that’s a regional thing (Southern hospitality).

The crimes were truly horrific and had real-world echoes considering how often the rich and powerful get away with things in real life. That lack of accountability tends to fuel those who have a taste for mindless violence and the first crime is the perfect illustration of the vulnerability of the poor vs. the entitlement of the wealthy.

4/5 - enjoyable, easy read
