This book is only 190 pages but it took me over a month to read. The first 150 pages is the most boring, repetitive part of any book I think I've ever read... I mean, it just kept going on, and on, and ON AND ON AND ON AND ON about how White Fang had grown vicious and solitary and the call of the wild was in him from thousands of generations and yak yak yak yak..... like, I understand putting emphasis on important parts of the book, but DUDE. Maybe cut it back to every other page or something. Also, this book is seriously racist to Native Americans. Anyway, it became a little more tolerable once Weedon Scott bought White Fang and things started to look up a little for him, but it took wayyyyyy too long to get to that point. Nw, I'm going to rant about how ridiculously far back the book starts from things relevant to the actual plot. At the beginning of the book, you're following these two guys and a corpse through the snow in a bitter Alaskan winter, who are being chased by a pack of wolves that are eating all their sled dogs. fast forward, you're following Kiche, White Fang's mom, and then she has White Fang, and THEN the actual story begins, and it seems like it really wouldn't make any difference whatsoever if you cut about the first 30 pages from the book. SO, rant concluded, hope you all have a Merry Christmas and that if you ever decide to read this book, you'll enjoy it more than I did.
